The
city Narbonne belongs
to the south french department "Aude"
and is situated at the same named river,
as well as at the Mediterranean.
Narbonne
was founded about 120 B.C. as a Latin
dependency. It was the first on this
vein outlying Italy. Its name was "Colonie
Narbo Martius". The famous
Via Domitia went straight
through the city.
The
impressive cathedral Saint-Just
was constructed between 1272
and 1332 and is one of the highest cathedrals
in France. But not only the cathedral
attracts the visitors but also the well
worth seeing Latin remains. To add on
a preserved part of the Via Domitia
downtown as well as an in-ground granary
(Latin Horreum).
